
Decor
I recently popped in to catch up with Demitris and Antonis, greeted with exemplary hospitality as always at Fish House Restaurant, on the harbour. The first thing we talked about was that they’ve now been open 70 years, which says something! … Then I mentioned the lovely improvements to the decor, both out front and on the back terrace, and Demiris said “we try to upgrade and refresh the restaurant every year”.
In the Shade
Deceiving from the front, I can’t help but mention just how big this place is. The tables spread spaciously, comfy seating, and they’ve extended the bamboo pergola out back, so you can enjoy your fresh seafood and vegan options, alfresco style, and as usual, they were busy!
Location, Location
To the left, it overlooks Ayia Napa harbour and Cape Greco in the distance, straight out, a panoramic view of the Mediterranean just over 30 metres away, so close you can hear the sea, and to the right in the distance, Potamos fishing shelter. It’s one of my favourite places to watch the sunset, especially in the winter, when it sets further to the left … and after another recent refurbishment, I love the white bamboo walls, seriously, the place looks very cool, to say the least!

Today’s Catch
This spectacular eatery has been in the family since 1955, when Ayia Napa was just a little sleepy fishing village, and Yiannis’ grandfather, a fisherman himself, would strike up a barbecue and cook the day’s catch for a lucky few fellow fishermen. Slowly, it grew into a very successful fish tavern, and 70 years later, they are still cooking today’s catch, from the same fishermen’s sons and grandsons.
Refreshing
The place had a total revamp back in 2019, and as I mentioned, they make improvements every winter. In fact, I’ve known these guys for years, remembering the old days at Makedonas Restaurant at the top of the square and Le Belly Pork just around the corner, and their experience in hospitality is without doubt one of the ingredients to their success.
Inside Out
Situated just to the right of Ayia Napa Harbour, a little more serene, relax out front in a modern chilled ambience, or under the huge covered terrace out back, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. It really is a perfect place to enjoy premium seafood delights, and there’s a huge pristine lawn and a play area for the kids with swings, trampolines, tunnels, slides and things … Check out their promo Reels here
On the Menu
In the kitchen are 4 of the best chefs in Cyprus, working together they’re an awesome team, creating a varied selection of hot or cold appetisers; fresh Fish Soup, Seafood Salads, Dip Platters, maybe the Mussels with Garlic which are seriously to die for … but my fav the fresh Oysters and on our last visit we shared the Ceviche, carpaccio & tartar, the salmon tartar and tuna tartar are just out of this world and I urge you to try them … Mmm!
Freshest
On a busy day, there’s fresh fish arriving throughout the day, caught not only by the owner Antonis but also several local fishermen, so there’s always a selection you can buy by the kilo or just by the portion and you really must try everyone’s favourite, their Seafood Platters; sea bream, grilled octopus, grilled calamari, fried baby calamari, 4 king prawns, mussels with a creamy garlic sauce, marida or smelt shallow fried Mmm!
Meze & Platters
As this is one of Cyprus’ finest fish tavernas, we normally go there for the wonderful Fish Meze or a lovely Sea Food Platter, a Harbour Platter or the Grilled Platter to mention but a few …
Special Platter
This really is very special … Fresh lobster, grilled king prawns and grilled octopus served with salad or steamed vegetables and fresh cut chips, mmm!
Go VIP
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better; they recently introduced the luxurious, tasty, VIP Fish Meze; it’s village salad, tahini, white fish roe salad, olives, hummus, tuna tarter, oyster, fried baby calamari, grilled calamari, grilled cuttlefish and red snapper, grilled octopus and king prawns, mussels and the catch of the day or fried smelt with fresh cut chips.
Top of the List
You could always spoil yourself with a Grilled Whole Fresh Lobster, cooked to absolute perfection and served with sautéed vegetables, salad, rice, chips and olive oil & lemon sauce, omg!
Extensive
The menu is extensive, to say the least, everything from homemade Pizza, Pork Chops, Chicken Fillets and Pasta, including their wonderful Seafood Spaghetti … Occasionally, I just opt for a Jacket Potato …
New Dishes
They recently added a few more traditional dishes, including Beef Stifado, nicer if it’s yesterday’s, Surf & Turf, and a delicious Angus Beef Burger … Here’s a quick link to their full Menu

You’re spoilt for choice with some unique dishes like the Mediterranean Vegetarian Dish, with delicious grilled vegetables and jacket potato, Beetroot with sesame, or a Vegan Cheeseburger …

Even the littens have their delicious and healthy menu with 5 choices including Burgers, Pizza, Tomato Pasta, homemade Chicken Nuggets, or delicious fish & chips with tomato ketchup of course!
Desserts
You really must save some space for one of their delicious homemade desserts; There’s everything from Homemade Apple Pie with Icecream, to homemade Orange Pie garnished with traditional ‘politiki cream with masticha ice cream and pistachio Alginis, very tangy, and very special … do try the Yoghurt Mouse, the Cheescakes or my fav the Profitta Rolls … hmm, much as the Chocolate Lava Cake is normally my choice when I just pop in for a drink or fresh ground coffee to watch the sunset.
Behind the Bar
All your fav spirits by the shot or the bottle, over 50 wines from Cyprus, including Petritis and Moschofilero Boutari, from Greece, Italy & Portugal, Cocktails, mixed with or without alcohol, and they blend a delicious Milkshake.
Signature Cocktails
They know how to mix a cocktail here … ask Pete to serve you a Sweet Lemon, perfect with your dessert … maybe the Fuego Mandarin or the Passion Sunset, sweet and sour or my favourite, the Mediterranean Secret, earthy and refreshing signature Gin Cocktails.
