November 2021

With the current thing relaxing a bit, we’ll also probably see a few more winter opening parties than last year, so if you thought Cyprus is dead in November, you should look again!  Those that opened to fit an 8 month season into 3 or 4 months seemed to have been busy, partly coz there was less places open, but some were very busy and btw on that note it still makes sense to book a table, just in case.

Anyway, as I was saying, Indian summer, beach ’til Christmas, topping up the tan, sounds good to me … and, we hear there’s frost in Europe, sounds even better, haha, suffer , and, as in Cyprus, we live for the table!, dining outside in October is heaven, hey, why else do we live here?  And, on that note, there’s enough restaurants open in our Eating Out category to choose a different cuisine every day for a fortnight! ... And if you're organising your wedding click here ...

Another reason I love September is we move into low season from about 5th and with the kids back at school, it’s time for the younger and older couples and groups of single friends and work colleagues to take their summer hols, eating out more, drinking just as much and going home early for one reason or another?, and so everyone is walking around with smiles on their faces, which is very infectious … so everyone is happy! … tbh, it’s said that more money is spent here in September than any other month and so the finale to the season is usually a good one! … and boy, don’t we need it!

Topical Things are starting to happen, with more of the hospitality industry trying to offer the few tourists here somewhere to go ... but I think I’m gonna be saying a few if's, maybe’s and and hopefully’s this month and, if I can give you just one worthwhile tip, "it’s summer, so make sure you drink lots more water!"

So if we do go into the green, expect to see many restaurants, bars and cafe's reopening all over Cyprus and visitors arriving from numerous countries as we'll be one of the safest places in the world!  Naturally helped by the increase in natural vitamin D that the sun provides us for 330 days a year in Cyprus!

tbh I believe Cyprus will have a good year, firstly because we are up there in the top 5 countries on the way we handled the covid ‘pandemic’, well after all it’s a Greek word so we should know how to handle it … and secondly, because with over 20 million Europeans normally travelling to Spain, Portugal and Italy I imagine a few of them will opt to come to paradise instead …

March 2021 Spring into a Feast!

Green Monday To celebrate, the Cypriots all go out to the fields to light their BBQ’s with family and friends, on the menu; fresh fish, sea food, lots of fresh salads, fresh and dried fruit, nuts and in fact, anything you can think of, that’s not meat.  The theme is fancy dress, they all get face painted, and fly kites and stuff, and btw don’t worry if you’ve not been invited, just go for a walk in any field and you’ll probably get asked to join in, you know Cypriot hospitality n’all …

It's January, and normally, in this ‘versatility to the extreme’ country we live in, you can snow board in the Troodos Mountains in the morning and just over an hour later you can be swimming in the Mediterranean Sea … but this year that’s ‘if they let us’ … of course you could do it the other way round, then you can get into some Après Ski and chill in bespoke hotels up in the mountains and then get in a bit of Huskey Sledding in the morning and check out a sunset on another beach in the afternoon tomorrow!
