Recently, Koulla invited me to try their fish platter on their weekly Cyprus Night with a traditional Cypriot dance group ... I'm so glad I went there hungry because the fish platter was big ... To some it must have seemed a crazy idea to invite renowned jazz artists from England to a border area of Cyprus and so far up the West Coast, the Paradise Jazz Festival took off immediately and was loved by the audience from the very beginning, first by the British ex pats of the area, and then then by the musicians from Cyprus, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, oh and then by all island's nationalities, giving it a truly international image!

To be honest if you'd asked me if I'd ever move to Cyprus in 1992 I'd have laughed at you but we stopped looking for excuses and decided to give it a go, moved in '93 and never looked back ... We now live in a country with one of the best climates in the world, long hot summers, short mild winters.  I believe it's the safest place with under 2 million population.  The Cypriots dote their children and live for the table.  We have several of the finest beaches in the world and I'd say the best sea I've ever had the pleasure to swim in ... so don't think about it just do it!!

Ed’s Note October 2026

It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
