0
Andrew Rafferty with Two Sides of Phil Collins, one of the world's best tributes to the legend himself ... This guy looks like Phil, dresses identical and sounds just like him ... and as we hadn't seen rain since May this cover of 'I wish It Would Rain' was quite apt!

19th Paradise Jazz Festival, Pomos 17th & 18th August 2018

0
To some it must have seemed a crazy idea to invite renowned jazz artists from England to a border area of Cyprus and so far up the West Coast, the Paradise Jazz Festival took off immediately and was loved by the audience from the very beginning, first by the British ex pats of the area, and then then by the musicians from Cyprus, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Greece, Israel, oh and then by all island's nationalities, giving it a truly international image!

Over a delicious coffee, Chris said, ''we just came on holiday, decided to move, and pretty much bought the pub straight away", ha! I've heard that story so many times! ... but tbh, these guys have just blended in like they've been here forever ... I expect it's got something to do with the traditional Cypriot Hospitality with a South African Twist, that oozes from the family and crew.

Tea for Two Cafe Restaurant, Kato Paphos

Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, Protaras

0
I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... I was delighted to be invited to catch Bill and Ems, aka Dejavu, playing live at Lithos Bar & Grill in Larnaca.  On that night they were joined by Andreas, their drummer, and as a trio, they go by the name 'Strings Attached'  I really loved this gig so much, especially their covers of Fever, and Hotel California, so I grabbed the chance to ask Bill if we could get together for a chat.

... At midnight all the lights are extinguished in the church and the priest comes from behind the doors of the altar carrying a candle.  Walking to somebody in the front row and lighting their candle, this person and so on then pass the light from candle to candle and the light fills the church, symbolizing the Resurrection.  Everyone then kisses one another and exchanges the words 'Christos Anesti' - Christ has risen, 'Alithos Anesti' - truly He has risen. ...

Parko Paliatso Luna Park, Ayia Napa

0
I love this place, the sounds of gears and links chinking, smothered by fair ground music, the smell of candy floss and bbq corn on the cob, the multi coloured lights and occasional girly screams. It's really cool idea coz you just buy a Wrist Band depending on your ages and what you want to do!

Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
