Eating Out

Japanese

We are very fortunate to have a few of my favourite ever Japanese restaurants in Cyprus ... I think the authenticity is partly down...

Sage Fusion Cuisine, Ayia Napa

This is one restaurant you can put into the exquisite range ... it's right in the heart of Ayia Napa’s bustling tourist centre, and without doubt, one of Cyprus' premium eateries.  In fact, Sage has been impressing me with their culinary flair for over a decade, with a strong emphasis on quality fulfilled with passion, that starts from the moment you arrive and are greeted by their charming Maître ’D ...

Wine and More, Boutique, Kapparis

Following their massive recent refurbishment, the Cava is looking really cool and still awaiting a few final touches.  Airconditioned to a constant 21°C, the old 'AlcoHall' matured nicely into 'Wine and More' because owner Chris Karas noticed that's what many of his clients were looking for! ...

Raj Indian Restaurant, Protaras

... excellent reputation just keeps their clients coming back again and again and I must admit it's one of my fav's ...

Aeyialos Fish Restaurant & Beach Bar, Pernera, Protaras

Slightly off the beaten track, let's start by saying this is a fresh fish lovers haven! ... the setting is beachside, with mature trees casting shadows over a gorgeous pristine lawn with scattered sun loungers and Hawaiian style thatched umbrellas, leading all the way down to the idyllic Vrisoudia Bay.  Out back, covered terraces with wooden decking overlooking the tiny sandy bay with a panoramic view of the med.  Here and there, little areas of places to relax, some with sofas to chill to the max ... btw, a few years ago, this fish restaurant was nominated for 'Time Out' magazine best fish restaurants and I think they deserved to win it!

The Octagon, Vrysoules

It was busy when I arrived so I took a little space at the bar to chat to Kieran as I watched this well-oiled team working, maintaining health and hygiene protocols with masks and gloves … Kieran explained in fact, they are open every day with a full varied menu and they welcome local, expats and tbh absolutely everyone … he said "we are trying to put traditional Cypriot hospitality back into fun environment" …

Isaac Tavern, Harbour Approach, Ayia Napa

Recently, Koulla invited me to try their fish platter on their weekly Cyprus Night with a traditional Cypriot dance group ... I'm so glad I went there hungry because the fish platter was big ... Their Greek dancing just awesome, traditional, right down to the famous glass tower dance, this guy is amazing, and when they get everyone up to join in its totally unique because of this perfect location, outside, with the little church as a backdrop and all of harbour approach is your dance floor with many passer-byes stopping to see what's on ... brilliant! btw it every Wednesday night, regulations permitting

Camel Park, Mazotos, Larnaca

It's a lovely idea for a truly different day out. What I really like about The Camel Park is it’s diversity, as there’s always something new to see every time you go. With such a lot of animals, there’s often a few babies around including iccle Camels, ranging from as little as 2 weeks old … they are just delightful! You can choose to stroll around at your leisure or there’s guides who offer information in several languages.

Love Boat Cocktail Bar, Protaras

... the kitchen serves a Full English Breakfast or just Scrambled Eggs on Toast, home made Burgers, home made Pizzas, Pukka Pies, Omelettes, Salads, Grills with delicious Chicken breast, Huge Pork Chops and even your favourite Toasties.  There's something for everyone including a separate Children's Menu ... and if you like to share try one of their delicious Meat Platters for two ...

Ocean Aquarium Park, Protaras

George showed me around the grounds explaining; "You can learn so much about marine life here, and rivers and swamps and the Penguins, the first ever in the Mediterranean region, naturally kept comfortable in the appropriate climate controlled environment".  Just watching one of their videos I amazingly learned that all Gold Fish don't have stomachs, so they have to keep eating, which means you should feed them small amounts 5 times a day, probably why I was never successful keeping one, but now I know!
