There's regular theme nights including Belly Dance Nights and Fancy Dress Nights, so you might find them looking like police officers and even witches ... ... At midnight all the lights are extinguished in the church and the priest comes from behind the doors of the altar carrying a candle.  Walking to somebody in the front row and lighting their candle, this person and so on then pass the light from candle to candle and the light fills the church, symbolizing the Resurrection.  Everyone then kisses one another and exchanges the words 'Christos Anesti' - Christ has risen, 'Alithos Anesti' - truly He has risen. ...

Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, Protaras

0
I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
