It's a picturesque setting, with the restaurant literally on the riverbank, overlooking the fishing shelter, on the estuary of the Liopetri River aka 'Potamos', with stunning views stretching all the way to Cape Greko.  Inside, traditional, comfortable seating, fresh fish fridges, old photos on walls, and outside on the terrace with decking, where their two fishing boats are docked, seating for around 150 diners, lined with umbrellas for a little shade, and with the sea just a few metres away. you couldn't find a more perfect setting to eat fish!  btw, Haris and Margaritas' grandfather Nicolas opened this delightful beachside location in Potamos 50 years ago, so all the local fishermen could enjoy their days' catch, and btw, they still do.

I caught up with Nikos who also owns Blazing Saddles Pub next door, who told me "I opened the Indian Restaurant in 2013 because there wasn't an authentic one in the area.  Then one year later my customers persuaded me that there wasn't a decent Chinese either", and chop-chop it happened!  ... I popped into Bronx in Ayia Napa to find out what everyone is talking about ... There's this new idea 'Alcohol Mist', it's vapourised Alcohol saved into Balloon, so instead of taking in Gas, you take in Vapourised Alcohol, and that gives you a really nice buzz which apparently wears off in about 45 Minutes .... and it's totally legal, and of course, I had to try one 😉 ... I gotta say its well cool!

... the stage was ready, shady areas covered in tarpaulin and blossom and seats set in rows for a change making the play area busier ... a few sound checks, early birds arriving for the best seats and as it got darker, Socrates clicked the lights on, then the sound of sax warmed our souls, there was a good number in the crowd, much as it's more of a family reunion, returning for the annual event, many times, everyone as always loving the vibe!

On one of my afternoon visit's Rob wanted to get into the pool, and to my astonishment, the hotel had that covered too.  The lifeguards brought out this amazing winch-type harness, which has a secure borehole specifically poolside.  In a few minutes, the winch was set in its place, and they lifted Rob into the harness, which swivels over the water and lowers Rob onto a lilo so he can safely float, keeping his head above water.

Ed’s Note October 2026

It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
