One of the most impressive features of the Amathus Ruins is the Temple of Aphrodite, which I believe, was excavated in the 1980s.  The temple was a center of worship for the goddess of love and beauty and was believed to have been built in the 6th century BC.  The temple was adorned with beautiful sculptures and frescoes, many of which can still be seen today.

I loved this place the moment I saw the name, … It's a British Style pub, from the outside all white and doors, really cool signage and some comfy seating to enjoy a drink in the late sunny afternoons and watch the world go by, hanging baskets and signs everywhere. Inside, pristine, the bar wood and red brick, it's spacious with comfy seating, out back a Unique Beer Garden with regular live music events. Over to the right a separate games area, with pool table and regular Killer Pool and a Bar Football table … and to top it off one of the best chef's in Cyprus!!!

My initial interest was to find out about their gins, Aris explained, "it's what originally brought us back to Cyprus, 'to create a quality craft gin'.  Our initial inspiration was the aroma of The Troodos Mountains after a long dry summer when it first rains and we wanted to capture exactly that and put it in a bottle and we called it Aoratas Dry Gin which in fact last year won a gold medal.

George showed me around the grounds explaining; "You can learn so much about marine life here, and rivers and swamps and the Penguins, the first ever in the Mediterranean region, naturally kept comfortable in the appropriate climate controlled environment".  Just watching one of their videos I amazingly learned that all Gold Fish don't have stomachs, so they have to keep eating, which means you should feed them small amounts 5 times a day, probably why I was never successful keeping one, but now I know!

I just love it when I find something by accident, especially when it's this special ... Opposite Liquid Cafe, so I'm normally looking that way, is this fabulous discovery ... On one of my afternoon visit's Rob wanted to get into the pool, and to my astonishment, the hotel had that covered too.  The lifeguards brought out this amazing winch-type harness, which has a secure borehole specifically poolside.  In a few minutes, the winch was set in its place, and they lifted Rob into the harness, which swivels over the water and lowers Rob onto a lilo so he can safely float, keeping his head above water.

What's so special about these designs, is the hydraulic reclining system added to the designs of these chairs and sunbeds.  Taking a seat on the first set, a 6-seater, dining table, I have to say I was very impressed at how smooth the high-back seat reclined with just a push of the button.
