Cyprus Rocks Festival 2017, Protaras … 4th ’til 11th October

What started as a weekend gig, grew into a week long party and then two weeks of pure rock festival, live bands on a big stage, and often in intimate venues, where you get a chance to grab a drink and socialise with like minded mates you've not seen since the last festival, as well as the band members who hang around the venues, along with the thousands of rock fans that started to follow Eddie's Classic Rock Tours over ten years ago ...

Mr John Tours Cyprus, Protaras

I couldn't resist, so I started with, 'So John, tell me about the old days'... As he replied, his voice became a bit more emotional. "I was born in 1959 in the general hospital, which is now a college, I'll show you on our trip.  My family were producers of Strawberries in the neighbouring red soil village of Dherynia.  I grew up in the old city of Famagusta, or Varrossia as it was known.  I went to school there, I'll show you that too.  I knew every road and every corner, every shop and every hotel".

Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, Protaras

0
I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
