Safira Coffee House, Paralimni

0
Hidden Gem I love finding these little places that are a little bit different ... Safira Coffee House is exactly that! ... Nestled on the main road, almost on the zebra crossing from Likio School, Safira stands out as a retreat of comfort and tranquility, for locals and visitors alike.  This little hidden gem has quickly gained a reputation for its warm ambiance, exceptional service, and, of course, its delightful selection of coffees and snacks to dine in, takeaway, or get home delivery.

I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... The Lingo – Basic Course

We thought you might appreciate a quick crash course in the basics of the local lingo, which is a sort of slang Greek, aka ‘Horthkatika’ which is basically a village Greek. I do it in English phonetics so just read in English … Simples! … oh and don’t take it too seriously …

Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
