The Lazy Day Cruise didn’t get its name by accident … it really is a lazy cruise in comparison to one or two other party boats that set sail from the same harbour. The Lazy Day Cruise is more designed for families who want to chill out on the med, much as the cruise caters for all ages and many who go on the party boats also book this trip towards the end of their holidays, because everyone has to chill sometime ...

Ocean Aquarium Park, Protaras

0
George showed me around the grounds explaining; "You can learn so much about marine life here, and rivers and swamps and the Penguins, the first ever in the Mediterranean region, naturally kept comfortable in the appropriate climate controlled environment".  Just watching one of their videos I amazingly learned that all Gold Fish don't have stomachs, so they have to keep eating, which means you should feed them small amounts 5 times a day, probably why I was never successful keeping one, but now I know!

Amathus Ruins, Limassol, Circa.10th Century BC

0
One of the most impressive features of the Amathus Ruins is the Temple of Aphrodite, which I believe, was excavated in the 1980s.  The temple was a center of worship for the goddess of love and beauty and was believed to have been built in the 6th century BC.  The temple was adorned with beautiful sculptures and frescoes, many of which can still be seen today.

O’Neills Irish Bar & Grill, Kato Paphos

0
This is, without doubt, one of Paphos' finest eateries ... It's a traditional Irish Bar, so authentic all the furniture was crafted in Ireland an imported over, lots of dark warm wood, benches and stools, cottage cabinets and red brick. There's plenty of room inside, a nice covered smoking room and a lovely breezy sun terrace out front with comfortable seating, and the pub grub just a tad above the rest ... it's just like you've walked into a bar in Dublin, only a bit warmer!

Eating Out

0
For me, the aroma of BBQ over real charcoals is just Cyprus, the Mediterranean and traditional meze on its way, there's nothing quite like it !

To Steki tou Boss, Paralimni

0
To Steki tou Boss, in the heart of Paralimni is an authentic Cypriot Taverna, offering that 'Home from Home' feeling! Inside the décor, in one part designer influenced bespoke wooden tables and chairs made really comfy, patchwork high stools up at the bar, blended with cafe-style seating, lots of wood, village artefacts everywhere, plants and really cool lighting. The menu is a tick list of what's in the kitchen so you create your own meze, 3 of those, 2 of these, none of them etc ... just brilliant .... Highly recommended ... Following their massive recent refurbishment, the new fully licensed Wine Boutique is looking really cool and still awaiting a few final touches.  Airconditioned to a constant 21°C, the old 'AlcoHall Cava' has matured nicely into 'Wine and More Boutique' because the owners noticed that's what many of their clients were looking for!

Pyrgos Fireworks, Cyprus

0
I met up with the owner Nicos Pyrgos for a chat, and it soon became obvious that this guy has exceptional knowledge about fireworks ... after all, his father Marios launched the company back in 1986, laughing, Nicos said, "I've got gunpowder in my veins"! ... ha! my type of guy!

Parko Paliatso Luna Park, Ayia Napa

0
I love this place, the sounds of gears and links chinking, smothered by fair ground music, the smell of candy floss and bbq corn on the cob, the multi coloured lights and occasional girly screams. It's really cool idea coz you just buy a Wrist Band depending on your ages and what you want to do!

Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
