Ayia Napa

WARNING ! You’re gonna find it pretty hard to leave this fantasy to go back to reality …

Anyone who knows Napa, knows, that ‘full of youths’ stigma is just a load of media hype and no different from any other top resort! Fact is, it’s so versatile…

LarnaCan Skate & Graffiti Shop, Downtown, Larnaka

0
I love it when I find 'something out of the ordinary', slightly off the beaten track, owned by a guy who just wants to do what he loves with a passion.  Savvinos is dedicated about absolutely anything to do with Skatsa and 'Skateboarding'in Larnaca.  I've known him from the old indoor skate park days. Now more involved with the new outdoor skate park, if you want more info, give Savvinos a call at LarnaCan Skate & Graffiti Shop, in Downtown, Larnaka ... Click on the article for a Map & More ...

Mike’s Water Sports, Konnos Bay

Situated on Konnos bay, which just has to be the most idyllic location in Cyprus at the bottom of a windy avenue skirted with pine trees, a beautiful secluded white sandy beach with crystal clear water, perfect to enjoy a days watersports ... oh and free WiFi mmm!

On the Way to Lara Bay

Lara Bay is famous for the turtles but if you want to get away from the maddening crowds its one of the few places we can call paradise in paradise !

Margadina Lounge Hotel, Ayia Napa

0
... It was built to be a 5-star accommodation, so a tad more spacious, but it's run as a 4-star, a tranquil escape from the excitement of Ayia Napa.  And, it's owned by the hands-on, charismatic, Pantelis of Liquid Café and Sage Fusion Restaurants fame, those in the know will understand it's inevitable this hotel can only be first class.

April 2017

... and then we probably won't see rain again 'til at least October

limassol night (1) Limassol

The Lingo: Excuses aka Mañana

0
We thought you might appreciate a quick crash course in the basics of the local lingo, which is a sort of slang Greek, aka ‘Horthkatika’ which is basically a village Greek. Most of the locals speak English but they love it if you make an effort to speak their language. I do it in English phonetics so just read in English … Simples! … oh and don’t take it too seriously …

Johhny Mack is George Michael, Kama LifeStyle, Pernera

0
convinced by Tony Wade, famed for training the brilliant Sam Smith, Tony suggested John's voice was very soulful and so life changed.  Since then he's concentrated more on Soul and Motown, gigging all over the world including Dubai, Bahrain, and America, oh and Cyprus, twice!  Who'd have thought that he was almost a bank manager lol

Jenny’s Hair Shop & Extension Salon, Paphos

0
I’ve often watched Jenny completely change people in a few minutes.  It’s quite amazing what a good quality hairpiece can do to make you look like someone new or maybe you just want to surprise someone, either way a visit here will suffice … oh, and btw Jenny has a few selected summer clothing designs and sandals and not many people know this; she contributes considerable amounts of her profits to Children in Need in African! she’s quite an amazing woman!!!

Dhekelia Golf Club, Larnaca

0
The course is well managed, self-funded and very well maintained, and tbh, suits mid to high handicap players ... originally carved out by Major Franks RE and his engineers back in 1964 ... It's 18 holes, split by a gated road, 11 holes one side and 7 the other, with artificial grass greens ... totaling 6,500 yards, there's 4 x Par 3's 12 x Par 4's and 2 x Par 5's ...  and a course total of Par 70 ... with the course record an excellent 66 by ex-pro Tony Lassia

Serena Bay Beach Bar & Restaurant, Pernera

0
An eatery of the highest esteem, I love the crazy paved terrace, shaded by tall mature trees, that twinkle delightfully as the sun sets, the crazy colourful tables and chairs, almost kindergarden'ish, little alcoves of comfy seating, hammocks set up high in the trees, whilst down a tier, skirting the rocks, a pathway leading to the almost private beach on the left, that'll have mellow music and waiter service and there's plenty of sunbeds, all with a view to die for, a sea of serenity at Sirena Bay ...

Intro - Paralimni - St Georges Church ScanParalimni & Kapparis

Next to the Lake Paralimni is best described as Ayia Napa and Protaras’ ‘live in’ village, Para-limni means, next to the lake!  And we still have, arguably, our winter fill as evidence, enough to confuse…

Square Bar & Cafe, Ayia Napa

0
... But tbh, The Square Bar is better known for their Live Music, every night from 8.30 pm 'til late.  That's mostly down to Peter and Rob, of the legendary 'Live Lounge' in Cardiff fame, who told me "We partnered up with Panicos in 2014 to bring you the very best in live bands, duo and solo artists" ... Check out their Facebook Reviews, oh and, go early to avoid disappointment, coz this place gets really busy! ... I caught the Revolverlites here recently, check out their videos and reviews here ...

Starsky’s, Ayia Napa

... The tunes are still Decades of Dance, but now they're fused with a blend of EDM and Club Anthems!

Abydos IT Services, Paralimni, Cyprus

To be honest, I wouldn't be anywhere without this guy!  It was in fact Alex who told me I was doing it all wrong back in 2016 and helped me create this rsponsive, dynamic website.  It took us 2 years!  I finally managed to get him to sit down for an Inside-Out style interview ...

Rialto Theatre, Limassol

0
Standing proud at the top of Hero's Square, right in the heart of Limassol, a place where people gather, in days of old a mix of Greek and Turkish Cypriots, apparently once a red light district, now a mix of popular stylish bar's and eateries, and as the decline of cinema in the 80's inspired the new Rialto Theatre, that launched in 1999 and helped to develop the area into a hive of activities, cultural or not!

Beatriz Cafe Bistro, Old Town, Pafos

0
I love a new find ... this wonderful Bistro is set in the cobbled alleys at the top end of Old Town Paphos.  It's the dream of Soula and Aristos come true.  Soula has a love of cooking, especially 'sweet things' and now you can go and enjoy a little naughtiness in a quaint French Bistro style ambience, where everything just seems to slow down and stop, and all you have to think about is which coffee to choose !

To’ Nissiotiko Taverna, Protaras

0
Serving traditional Cypriot cuisine, or as Artemaki calls it, ''pure horthiaytiko'' or 'village-style' in English. The food is always cooked fresh, mostly over real charcoal, so it'll take at least 20 minutes to be served, but let me just say; it's worth every minute! and don't worry the pitta bread, dips and salads will wet your apatite. Whilst Arimaki's mum cooks traditional Cypriot dishes for your delight!

October 2016

October is the start of Autumn ... or is it ?

Garden Furniture at Rustic Furniture Collection, Paralimni

0
What's so special about these designs, is the hydraulic reclining system added to the designs of these chairs and sunbeds.  Taking a seat on the first set, a 6-seater, dining table, I have to say I was very impressed at how smooth the high-back seat reclined with just a push of the button.

Ed’s Note, September 2026

0
It’s also the season for festivals, markets and events, and September normally brings us a few closing parties, some a little premature, I feel.  There’s still lots happening, and don’t forget to look out for the winter opening parties, theatre, tributes, festivals, and dance events scattered all over the island … follow us on Facebook, and we’ll keep you in touch.

Meneou’s Kleftiko Festival is Cooking

0
There will be music, there'll be dancing, there'll be children bouncing around, there'll be plates of food arriving at tables ... And somewhere in Meneou, there will be clay-sealed clay ovens quietly doing what Cypriot clay ovens do best, for literally hundreds of years ... Making kleftiko ... We’ll see you there – preferably with an appetite.
