Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, Protaras

0
I was thrilled to finally get a chance to catch up with Zannetos at Fig Tree Bay Zefkas George & Son Restaurant, and I was amazed to learn that the history of Fig Tree Bay actually started here ... This beach, of course, has always been popular with the locals way before tourism really existed. Situated on the far west of Famagusta Bay, where the locals went to get away from it all, in the days when there was absolutely nothing here but sand and a few footprints ... The development was built in 2008 by a reputable local developers ... I was delighted to be invited to catch Bill and Ems, aka Dejavu, playing live at Lithos Bar & Grill in Larnaca.  On that night they were joined by Andreas, their drummer, and as a trio, they go by the name 'Strings Attached'  I really loved this gig so much, especially their covers of Fever, and Hotel California, so I grabbed the chance to ask Bill if we could get together for a chat.

We thought you might appreciate a quick crash course in the basics of the local lingo, which is a sort of slang Greek, aka ‘Horthkatika’ which is basically a village Greek. Most of the locals speak English but they love it if you make an effort to speak their language. I do it in English phonetics so just read in English … Simples! … oh and don’t take it too seriously …

Island Homes Estate Agents, Paralimni

0
What I like most about this estate agent is the 'Extremely Transparent' tag they've developed from trust and pricing to the way they'll point out the bad points along with the good ones.  I love the extra effort they put into each property, checking on title deeds, and building permits and keeping close ties with local authorities so that they pretty much know everything about each property on their books.

Andreas installs probably the best sound, light and automation equipment money can buy and to say he's a perfectionist is an understatement ... btw, you've probably been listening to his sound equipment and looking admiringly at his architectural lighting designs without even realising it!  Because, his work is evident in many restaurants, bars, cafes, hotels,  nightclubs, retail outlets, boat cruises and private homes from Paralimni to Paphos and everywhere in between ... Parko Paliatso Luna Park, Ayia Napa

I love this place, the sounds of gears and links chinking, smothered by fair ground music, the smell of candy floss and bbq corn on the cob, the multi coloured lights and occasional girly screams. It's really cool idea coz you just buy a Wrist Band depending on your ages and what you want to do!

Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
