Wanax Beach Bar was one of the main reasons I wanted to catch up with Genia was to find out more about 'Wanax', their newly opened Beach Bar, come Tapas Beach Bar that I'm hearing is the in-place to be on the west coast, fast becoming one of the popular beach bars.  Opening every day as a beach bar, with an international a'la carte menu 'til 6 pm.  Then on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, it's a fabulous beach bar by day serving signature cocktails, and by night, from 7 pm 'til late it transforms into Wanax Mediterranean Tapas Bar, with a different concept, the themed specialty is Tapas, accompanied by a little live Salsa music and don't miss their weekly Sunday Latin Beach Parties

Mambos Bar & Restaurant, Kapparis

Naturally I had to ask why Mambo’s, I joked, nothing to do with Nando’s?, he smiled and said "maybe" … explaining “if anything, we wanted to bring a new concept to the area, with a hint of a Mediterranean fusion with South America” … But I love the name, the décor very cool, the little touches here and there tells you know they mean business.  There’s a lovely long terrace on the sunny mornings side of the road, and indoors spacious for your parties … or those chilli winter nights …

Ammochostos Motor Museum, Ayia Napa

0
I wanted to have a chat before Andreas gave me a personal tour of the museum, so we met upstairs in the cafe and ice cream parlour, my delicious cappuccino brewed with 'Vittorio Coffee' pure Arabica from Brazil.  I asked Andreas to tell me how it all started?  He said, "It started as a hobby, I would find old cars, in Cyprus, mostly Fords, buy them and restore them myself, to showroom perfection, sometimes having to source spare parts from all over the world.  Then he said, " Next thing you know, whenever my friends were selling a vintage or classic car, I would buy it".

To Steki tou Boss, Paralimni

0
To Steki tou Boss, in the heart of Paralimni is an authentic Cypriot Taverna, offering that 'Home from Home' feeling! Inside the décor, in one part designer influenced bespoke wooden tables and chairs made really comfy, patchwork high stools up at the bar, blended with cafe-style seating, lots of wood, village artefacts everywhere, plants and really cool lighting. The menu is a tick list of what's in the kitchen so you create your own meze, 3 of those, 2 of these, none of them etc ... just brilliant .... Highly recommended ... Joker Square Bar & Entertainment, Protaras

0
This is without a doubt, one of my favourite bars on the strip and now one of my favourite eateries too ... I asked Andreas, why the '3 Jokers'?  He said in Cyprus, the Joker is the one that does all the jobs.  So I asked Floris what are you now, King of the Bar? He laughed and said ... No! Parko Paliatso Luna Park, Ayia Napa

I love this place, the sounds of gears and links chinking, smothered by fair ground music, the smell of candy floss and bbq corn on the cob, the multi coloured lights and occasional girly screams. It's really cool idea coz you just buy a Wrist Band depending on your ages and what you want to do!

Ed’s Note October 2026

0
It’s October already, that went quick!  and it really is one of my favourite months!  Partly because that long hot summer is definitely over, or is it? … I asked the fishermen and they said it might not rain again ‘til mid-November, with temperatures still up in the 30°C’s, as we enter October, that’s about 90°F in English.  Just as we predicted back in May, it looks like we’re going to have another Indian summer and we’ll still be going to the beach in December, Mmm, don’t you just love Cyprus!
