Potamos Fish Restaurant, Liopetri

It's a picturesque setting, with the restaurant literally on the riverbank, overlooking the fishing shelter, on the estuary of the Liopetri River aka 'Potamos', with stunning views stretching all the way to Cape Greko. Inside, traditional, comfortable seating, fresh fish fridges, old photos on walls, and outside on the terrace with decking, where their two fishing boats are docked, seating for around 150 diners, lined with umbrellas for a little shade, and with the sea just a few metres away. you couldn't find a more perfect setting to eat fish! btw, Haris and Margaritas' grandfather Nicolas opened this delightful beachside location in Potamos 50 years ago, so all the local fishermen could enjoy their days' catch, and btw, they still do.

Born in Athens, 35 year old Alexandros started DJ'ing when he was 15, he couldn't help it he says "my passion is music, I love to see people dancing, I want to see them smile and the happiness on their faces" ... In the early day's he explained "I just played in a mini studio I set up at home, playing at a few parties, pubs, coffee shops in the city". He said, "I haven't played any big clubs coz I haven't really tried" ... reiterating "I'm not really into it for money, I just want to find the mixes".

I really enjoy my job, even more so when I find something a little different and was thrilled when Valentina and Yiannis invited me to meet them at their Traditional Romanian Restaurant in Paphos … They asked me if I'd like to try one of Yiannis' Soups for lunch, and I said "just a little please" and they served me Meat Ball Soup with some warm pitta and green chili peppers on the side … I just have to say; "I wish I hadn't said 'just a little' … it really was delicious!"

There's this new idea 'Alcohol Mist', it's vapourised Alcohol saved into Balloon, so instead of taking in Gas, you take in Vapourised Alcohol, and that gives you a really nice buzz which apparently wears off in about 45 Minutes .... and it's totally legal, and of course, I had to try one 😉 ... So, I asked George to tell me about his choice of beef ... and quite amazingly he told me; "We were the first to bring the burger scene to Larnaca. We mated Black Angus steers with our cows at several local farms, which gave birth to more Angus beef and we're now in our 16th generation and naturally, we get our beef fresh from our associated local farms ... ah ha! that's why my burger tasted so good!

Now I know it might sound crazy, but by the end of December up in the Troodos Mountains, you can go skiing or even Husky Sledding in the morning and by the afternoon you can be swimming in The Mediterranean Sea and that’s just one of the reasons why I think this place is Paradise!
